Happy Children’s Library
Happy Children’s Library is much more than just a library. Located in village Seem of Nainital district in Uttarakhand, Happy Children’s Library is a lively and vibrant space not just for the children of Seem, but also for kids from the surrounding villages of Dhon, Byasi, Siltona and Jogyari.
Over the years, it has grown into a ‘my space‘ for the children and a community centre for all the families of Seem and surrounding villages. Every evening the library turns into an educational & activity centre with computer classes for the children and young womenand and a hub for events with parents & village community when required.
Tuitions in English, Science and Math and computer literacy classes are also organised for children class 4 to 12.

“Before Didi and Dadda came here, we didn’t even know what a library was. Now, we can read a lot of different kinds of books and learn about new games. We sometimes take our books to school, and even our classmates and teachers are glad to see these books.”

“When we first came to the library, we didn’t know English but now we are learning. We issue books and take them home, often our parents, relatives and siblings also read our books. We get to meet a lot of new people too, and are learning how to use computers.”
